While our regular classes will resume in September, we offer you this short 6-week summer session with a special focus: grammar.
This is a grammar-specific class recommended for students at the Advanced Intermediate level. If you are new to the school this summer, please check the regular Advanced Intermediate class description for prerequisites. Per CEFR guidelines, this class is appropriate for B2-C1 students.
We will be practicing:
– 4 German cases (Nominativ, Akkusativ, Dativ, Genitiv) and more advanced sentence structures
– More complex subordinate clauses and conjunctions
– Reflexive verbs including reflexive pronouns in the dative case (e.g., ich wasche mir die Hände) and sentences with mixed accusative/dative structures
– More abstract verbs with prepositions and da-compounds (davon, darüber, darauf, damit …)
– Declension of adjectives at a more nuanced level
– Konjunktiv II, including building the subjunctive in the past tense and incorporating the passive voice
