Summer affords us the opportunity to bring our language community together in a fun environment!
“Plauderstunde” translates roughly into “chat,” “chatting hour” or “pleasant talk” (Plaudern: to chat, gossip, or converse casually and stunde: an hour or a specific period of time). According to the dictionary, it generally refers to a relaxed, cozy or friendly conversation with friends, family or colleagues and in more formal settings, it can simply refer to a scheduled time for casual conversation. What’s not to like about this!
That’s what we are proposing.
We invite you every Thursday morning for an hour of German conversation in a relaxed atmosphere while your instructor keeps the conversation flowing. Cathrin, your instructor, will suggest a topic, a theme, a scenario, etc. ahead of your weekly gathering and you will convene on Thursday morning to practice.
These gatherings are for anyone interested in practicing German this summer while most of our regular classes are on pause, but it isn’t required for you to be enrolled in one of our classes during the school year to participate (although we would love it if you were!).
Please keep in mind that while this class will be conducted entirely in German, there will potentially be varying levels of speaking and understanding abilities, therefore we will kindly ask that least advanced students come with the desire to embrace the challenge and most advanced students attend with patience when necessary.
Recommended levels: Advanced beginning and up.
If you know that this is the right setting for you, please sign up! If you are not sure: please get in touch by email.
