In this level, we assume that you have already studied the present, the immediate future, and the imperative, and have begun in earnest the study of past tenses of the indicative mood (especially the passé compose, and perhaps the imparfait forms of some verbs).
You can understand the main point in clear, concise spoken French and in simple written messages and announcements. At this level you know fundamental vocabulary related to areas of immediate personal relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment) as well as more complex vocabulary as it relates to the day’s lesson topics, particularly speaking about people and places beyond ourselves. In this class you will reinforce your communication skills by asking and answering more complex questions with more spontaneity and recounting personal stories in the present, past, and future.
At this level we begin to use object pronouns to replace nouns that we are discussing, and we practice the creation of longer sentences that have more than one verb and more than one subject. We are practicing listening comprehension to understand quicker, more familiar speech. We will acquire more advanced cultural knowledge about the complexities of the French speaking world.
If you need assistance to determine if this class is right for you, we would be happy to help. Please attend our informational meeting on April 13th or get in touch.
