This is our weekly Petit Déjeuner with a holiday twist AND a Covid-19 one!
For the past many years, on one special Friday morning as the holiday celebrations are in full swing across the country (Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, Posadas, Diwali, Chinese New Year!) we have gathered around delicious and abundant food at The Language Exchange, and recounted stories of holidays past, giving us all quite a holiday blast!
Stuck in Covid-19 gear, we obviously, and reasonably, cannot contemplate replicating this tradition in its physical expression. However, this is no time of year to be sullen and resigned! Therefore, I say, let the tradition live on with a hefty dose of zoom to overcome the bump.
You won’t be getting in your chariots nor sleigh-ride through the city, but you will be expected to cook up or bake that one traditional… “cake”. As in years past, your contribution to this last Petit Déjeuner of 2020, will reflect a unique family tradition. You will prepare something dear to you and yours, and a story to go along with it that you will share with the rest of us. Think of it as a holiday show and tell: a food item you would normally have as the holidays near and a preferably happy story to live up to the cheer.
One thing won’t be different: you will present in French and be in the company of as many francophones as dare get up early and join in the holiday joy!
This holiday breakfast never fails to be a warm and wonderful time of the year!
Please join us!
