In this level, you can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar subjects in work, school, leisure activities, etc. You can manage in most situations that come up when traveling in areas where French is spoken. You can produce a simple and cohesive written text on familiar subjects or subjects of personal interest. You can narrate an event, an experience or a dream; describe a desire or goal, and outline reasons or explanations behind a project or idea.
In other words, you express yourself with relative ease and your accuracy is sufficient for making yourself understood but not flawless. At this level you have experience using the indicative, imperative, subjunctive, and conditional moods of verbs and are comfortable creating and understanding sentences in past, present, and future tenses in the indicative mood.
At this level we advance to reading and listening to a variety of authentic French sources including news articles, radio programs, songs, excerpts from literary texts, and interviews. Our reading and listening tasks are longer and will help you continue to increase your vocabulary. We are developing a greater knowledge of the French speaking world, both in the present and historically.
If you need assistance to determine if this class is right for you, we would be happy to help.
