Reading in a foreign language is one of the most efficient ways to expand your vocabulary but if you are concerned you will not understand everything, you will have to look up too many words, and you will get frustrated… the task might seem a bit daunting.
We will choose entertaining reading material for you, short in length while rich in linguistic content, and adapted to your level to create an enjoyable, rewarding, and supported reading experience.
In this class, you will be asked to read a short story weekly and prepare to later discuss it in class. We will give you tools to help you circumvent the hurdles posed by authentic reading materials in Spanish, techniques to prepare yourself for weekly discussions, ways to identify vocabulary and grammar to commit to memory, and in the end we hope to afford you a pleasant and highly rewarding experience that will contribute to boost your confidence!
The readings – of varied genres and topics – will be short to not overwhelm you and give you plenty of time to thoroughly prepare your discussions. They will also be free and accessible online.
If you need conversation practice and are willing to do some weekly reading, let the adventure begin!
This class can be taken on its own or in combination with another more traditional class.
If you know that this is the right level/class for you, please sign up!
If you are not sure, let us help and evaluate if it is.
Sign up to attend a Free Practice & Evaluate Session on 4/13 at the end of which you will know if your level will enable you to actively participate in and benefit from the class and if this style of class is right for you.
And if you are unable to attend, please get in touch by email or sign up for an online informational meeting on April 15th.
