In this high intermediate class, students can understand a wide range of topics, from personal to more abstract issues such as current events, and even technical articles in their area of expertise.  They have little or no difficulty understanding what is being said by their native or near-native speaking instructors with no “adjustment” on the part of the instructor.  They can communicate with a degree of spontaneity and fluency during a conversation with a native speaker, in a way that is comfortable for everyone. They can speak in a clear, detailed way on a number of subjects, express an opinion on current affairs, giving the advantages and disadvantages of the various options. They have a solid knowledge of all verb tenses including tenses of the subjunctive and conditional moods.

We continue to read, write, listen, and speak with more and more complexity and precision. Our listening activities increase in length and come from authentic French sources such as interviews in podcasts and radio shows, as well as video reports. Our reading activities come from the Francophone media world of websites, newspapers, and magazines, and from Francophone literary texts. As we practice our language skills, we also increase our cultural knowledge of the French speaking world.

If you need assistance to determine if this class is right for you, we would be happy to help.
