In October, Peter Monro, a former photo-journalist, again took up trekking as a pilgrim along ancient Camino routes, this time from Geneva west down across the Rhone, up onto the plateau of the Ardeche and down to the Massif Central city of Le Puy-en-Velay.

In sun, fog, and driving rain, Peter sought out historic Monasteries and, for a fortnight, he stayed with French families – the only accommodations in much of this remote area.

Peter will quote from both Robert Louis Stevenson, who crossed this area with a donkey in 1878, and from A Good Place to Hide, about the plateau residents who saved 5,000 Jews in World War II
